If you also use the Ginger extension in Chrome, you have two ways to check text on websites. They work independently.
| Ginger browser extension | Ginger desktop app |
|---|---|---|
Where it works | Websites in your browser | Most apps on your computer |
While you type | Underlines mistakes and shows a count of errors | Nothing until you select text |
When you select text | Its icon opens Rephrase suggestions | The G opens the Ginger popup (Correct, Translate, Rephrase) |
Shortcut | — | Ctrl+C+C opens the desktop popup |
Which icon is which?
On websites you may see both icons near your selection. The extension's icon opens rephrase suggestions inside the page. The desktop app's G opens the Ginger popup with Correct and Translate.
Recommended:
- In the browser, use the extension's underlines to fix mistakes as you type.
- To translate or check a longer passage on a website, select it and press Ctrl+C+C to open the desktop popup.
- If two icons near your selection are distracting, you can turn off the desktop G in Settings and keep using Ctrl+C+C.
