The floating G is the quickest way to check a sentence or a paragraph without leaving the app you're writing in.
- Select the text you want to check by dragging over it with your mouse.
- Wait a moment. A round G icon appears just below the end of your selection.
- Click the G. The Ginger popup opens with your text corrected.
- Review the changes. Corrected words are highlighted.
- Click Replace to put the corrected text back in place, or choose another option (see Replace, copy, listen and undo).
Good to know
- The G appears when you select text with your mouse. If you select text with the keyboard (for example Shift+arrow keys or Ctrl+A), use Ctrl+C+C instead.
- Many apps show their own formatting toolbar (bold, italic and so on) when you select text. The G appears separately; make sure you click the G, not the app's toolbar.
- To stop the G from appearing, turn it off in Settings (see Customize Ginger). The Ctrl+C+C shortcut keeps working.
- If the G doesn't appear in an app, use Ctrl+C+C and see Troubleshooting: the G doesn't appear.
